BackStage

In 2020, the team at StoryProjects took audiences behind the scenes of the Darwin Entertainment Centre, to wander the dressing rooms, corridors, rehearsal rooms and stage wings exposing the truth, lies, mishaps and magic of life in the theatre.  

 

A combination of immersive theatre, audio storytelling, dance and performance, BackStage was a brave and innovative work that delved into stories of performers to reveal vulnerability, joy, despair and triumph. 

 

In a year that saw live performance decimated, BackStage shone an important light on the real people who are often hidden under fancy wigs and sparkling sequins or forgotten behind centre stage curtains or cloakroom doors.
